Terrill Waldman and Charlie Jenkins + Carel Shonerd

MASTER

Terrill Waldman and Charlie Jenkins own and operate Tandem Glass in Dresden, ME. They each began their careers by apprenticing with glass artists and working in exchange for studio time. Waldman discovered glass in high school with a class at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit and immediately began apprenticing; she later worked for artists in their studios and monitored the MIT Glass Lab. Waldman earned a BFA from Tufts University Museum School of Fine Arts in 1994. Jenkins studied glass while at Franklin Pierce College and upon graduation began apprenticing with Alan Goldfarb, an American master in Italian technique.

“Craft is central to our lives. It is our passion, how we make our living and how we socialize. We are committed to other artists as our community. Craft is a tradition that knits us together and a place we can be creative as well.” Terrill Waldman

APPRENTICE

Carel Shonerd began blowing glass as a teenager and has continued extensively for 15 years. Shonerd earned an AA in glass from Salem Community College and a BFA from Southern Oregon University.

“One of the great things about glass is that there is always more to learn, especially to master the craft.” – Carel Shonerd
