Nisa Smiley + Jennifer Marshall

MASTER

Nisa Smiley (Ellsworth, ME)
Nisa Smiley is a professional studio jeweler and metalsmith with a public studio in Ellsworth. Her nature-inspired works incorporate precious metals, gemstones and found materials and have been exhibited in juried shows, fairs and fine art galleries throughout Maine and New England. Smiley earned a BFA in metal smithing from Maine College of Art in 2000.
“Jennifer currently has a developed line of jewelry that expresses her aesthetic, and she has already established multiple professional relationships with galleries and boutiques. She is out-going, curious, and an energetic student who eagerly absorbs as much as she can. She has a natural eye for design, and is ready to take her metalsmithing skills and business to a higher level.” – Nisa Smiley

APPRENTICE

Jennifer Marshall (Thomaston, ME)
After earning her BFA from Parson’s School of Design, Jennifer Marshall explored multiple creative avenues before discovering the craft of jewelry six years ago. She has furthered her education at Portland Pottery, Pauline Warg studio (Scarborough), through adult education courses at Camden High School, and with Nisa Smiley.
“Nisa and I have a wonderful rapport and mutual respect and appreciation for one another’s aesthetic, and share a love for antique, mother of pearl buttons. Last winter I took a workshop in Precious Metal Clay with Nisa, and recognized that the opportunity to work extensively with Nisa would be a turning point in my jewelry career.” – Jennifer Marshall
