MASTER

j.e. paterak (Portland, ME)
Paterak received her BFA in painting and printmaking from MassArt and her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has been both a student and a teacher at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Penland, and is sole proprietor/designer and bench-jeweler behind BloomStudio Jewelry, a studio and gallery housed within ZeroStation in Portland.
“There is a lot of information to untangle, to find a way that makes being a studio jeweler sustainable. I am impressed with Shelby’s work-ethic and her involvement with the Metals Collective. She is on her way to becoming a successful jeweler in her own right; the structure and time this program provides is an ideal opportunity to achieve this.” – j.e. paterak

APPRENTICE

Shelby Goldsmith (Portland, ME)
Shelby Goldsmith earned an BFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry in 2014, and has furthered her education at Penland and Peters Valley craft schools.
“Jeanne has been a mentor to me since we met, and I have benefitted greatly from her knowledge and willingness to impart it. Aside from this dynamic, I admire her dedication and work-life balance. I’m specifically drawn to the way she intertwines her interest in ecological sustainability with her work, and how she spans mediums of jewelry and printmaking. A healthy and diverse studio practice means there’s the ever-present opportunity for it to grow and evolve which equals a sustainable practice.” – Shelby Goldsmith
