APPRENTICESHIP SUMMARY
This fiber-based rug hooking apprenticeship pairs mentor artist Grace Collette with apprentice Kaileigh Sargent for 100 hours of one-on-one studio training in Raymond, New Hampshire. Throughout their time together, Kaileigh will expand her knowledge of design principles, such as color planning and composition, while developing and applying these skills to her first rug design. As she progresses, she will explore various dyeing techniques, along with learning new textile skills like creative stitches, punch needle, and embroidery. The apprenticeship will also cover finishing techniques, including needle felting and embellishing with beads and novelty yarns, culminating in the submission of three pieces for jury consideration into the League of NH Craftsmen.

Grace Collette (Raymond, NH)
Grace E. Collette is a traditional hooking artist with 44 years of experience creating designs, dying fibers, producing craftwork, teaching and conducting workshops on rug hooking In New England. She is a member of 7 rug hooking guilds, and has been secretary of the NH guild for 7 years. Her many accomplishments include being a published author of magazine articles; a Featured Artist; People’s Choice Award Winner in the largest international rug hooking show in the U.S.A.; recipient of many blue ribbons and Best of Show ribbons; participant in shows annually from Maine to Ohio; demonstrates frequently at area events, such as the Sunapee Craftsmen’s Fair, etc.

Kaileigh Sargent (Raymond, NH)
Kaileigh Sargent is a talented fiber artist with 17 years of experience. She started with knitting and drawing, then progressed successfully to needle felting, including sales. She is now further expanding her natural artistic talents into rug hooking with more formal and broadened training.
